‘Batman mask’ baby undergoes first round of procedures in Russia

The first of many rounds of treatment to remove the so-called ‘Batman’ nervus from the face of a six-month-old Floridian girl was dubbed a success by her mother.

The baby was born with a rare condition called Giant Congenital Melanocytic Nevus (GCMN).

Individuals with this disease are prone to developing melanoma, a serious form of skin cancer.

After the ‘Batman’ baby’s case hit the headlines, Carol and her husband Thiago Tavares opted for treatment in Russia, rejecting several offers in the US after being told their child could face years of laser surgery.
