Lebanese face-off at civil war flashpoint as tensions rise

Violent confrontations in Lebanon have been threatening what have largely been peaceful protests.

In recent days, tense standoffs between sectarian and political rivals in the neighbourhood that was the historical front line of the Lebanese civil war have raised fears of violence returning to the country.

Nearly six weeks since the start of the movement, protesters are determined to restore a united voice against the ruling class.
