The roots of South African xenophobic violence

In South Africa, racial tensions have been running high in recent months.

Riots and lootings against foreign nationals have been ramping up across the country. At least 10 people have been killed in the violence over the last week. The underlying roots of the recent xenophobic outbreaks can be traced back deep into South Africa’s history.
