UN eyes Duterte’s drug war after Philippines police kill 3-year-old

Three-year-old Kateleen Myca Ulpina was shot dead by Philippines police in a province near the capital Manila.

The squad was on an anti-drug operation. They say she was used as a human shield.

Her family says she wasn’t. But her death was called, ‘collateral damage’ by Ronald dela Rosa, who is a senator and a former head of the Philippines police.

He has led President Rodrigo Duterte’s ‘war on drugs.’ Now the UN has decided to investigate.

The UN Human Rights Council will set up a preliminary investigation into the anti-drug campaign that has killed more than 6,000 people in three years.

Myca Ulpina’s killing is another statistic on that death list. But it also stands out.

It’s prompted questions. Such as the one the priest asked at Myca’s funeral. ‘When is enough enough?’
