FEMEN activists call on French government to take action against violence against women in Paris

Femen activists joined families of victims of femicide at a rally at the Place de la Republique in Paris on Saturday, calling on the government to step in to stop to take action against violence against women.

Femen activists were seen staging a topless protest whilst holding banners and signs that blamed the government for being guilty of not having prevented the 74 deaths of women killed by spouses or ex-spouses in France so far this year. “There are currently women in France, for whom political action is a matter of life or death”, said the President of Fondation Femmes, Anne-Cecile 7Mailfert, calling the government to implement protection mechanisms. During the remembrance of the victims, various participants were seen crying as they paid a moment of silence tribute to them.
