Sudan military and opposition strike power-sharing deal

African Union mediators say Sudan’s ruling military council and opposition leaders have reached a power-sharing agreement.

Under the deal, a half-civilian, half-military council will rule the country for the next three years.

Protests have roiled Sudan since the ousting of longtime president Omar al-Bashir in April.

Opposition leaders say the new deal is a victory for their movement.
