Do secret courts in the UK undermine democracy?

Did you know there are secret courts in the UK to hold the British government and intelligence agencies to account? The legal term is Closed Material Procedures and takes place when someone claims they have been mistreated and tortured in the hands of secret services or the government. But these trials are literally held behind closed doors – not even the claimant and their lawyers are allowed in the hearings. This is why Closed Material Procedures are controversial and critics have even gone as far as saying, they are undemocratic and go against the core principles of a fair justice system.
