Ethiopia ethnic violence: “This looks like old practice”

A real test for the first prime minister of Ethiopia to hail from the capital’s dominant ethnic group, the Oromo.

Protests in Addis Ababa in reaction to weekend violence against minorities which left 23 dead, a further five were reported killed this Monday. The violence escalated on Saturday, the day of a rally marking the return of the exiled leaders of the Oromo liberation front. The clash is a blow to the new prime minister hopes of reform.
