Legalizing Cannabis: Is Lebanon Next?

Lebanon’s underground cannabis industry already generates annual exports estimated to be worth 200 million US dollars.

Now the Lebanese government is considering legalizing the cultivation of cannabis for medical purposes, in an effort to boost its cash-strapped economy. But locals in the Bekaa valley, where the plant has been grown for decades, are skeptical of the government’s intentions.
