The Syrian forces are now close to the country’s border with Jordan. Meanwhile, foreign-backed militants in Syria say they’ve reached a deal with Russian officers that will restore the Syrian government’s sovereignty over the border crossing with Jordan. The Lebanese resistance movement, Hezbollah, also says Syrian forces seized a key crossing near the Jordanian border. Dara’a is the main stronghold of Nusra Front terrorists.
The full recapture of the province by the government would divide areas held by foreign-backed militants in Syria’s south. The Syrian army has been fighting various militant groups since March 2011.
