‘Russia: Japan makes ‘significant contributions’ to ISS work’

Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe was received by Russian President Vladimir Putin at the Kremlin on Saturday.

SOT, Shinzo Abe, Japan PM (Japanese): “During our previous meeting in Dana [Japan], Mr President shared with me his hope that the results of elections will enable us to realise all of our plans. I am ready to enhance extensively our cooperation with you now.”

SOT, Vladimir Putin, Russian President (Russian): “Japan is making significant contributions to the work of the International Space Station. Not only Japanese astronauts are working in space but also a wide range of research is being carried out by Japanese scientists.”

SOT, Anton Shkaplerov, Russian cosmonaut (Russian): “2018 is a year of cultural exchange between Russia and Japan. Cultural exchange facilitates mutual understanding between our nations. It is a great honour for me to address you from the International Space Station where we live and work together, in particular with our Japanese colleagues.”
