China’s Antarctic Zhongshan Station sits in East Antarctica at the coordinates of 69o22′24″S, 76o22′40″E.
The station was built in 1989 and has become China’s biggest Antarctic research station. It consists of more than 10 buildings for researchers to work and live. Vegetables are more precious than meat and seafood at Zhongshan Station. There is a special greenhouse where cucumbers and lettuce are planted so researchers can eat fresh vegetables during the winter. The warehouse, dubbed the “treasure house,” stores food and daily supplies. Take a look!
