‘Revisiting Ayodhya 25 Years After Demolition of Babri Masjid’

In recorded evidence, the dispute over Babri Masjid started in 1800s and aggravated in 1949 when a Ram idol was found inside the mosque premises, leading many to believe that it was the birthplace of Lord Ram.

On December 6, 1992, thousands of kar sevaks stormed into Ayodhya and tore down the 16th century mosque to build a Ram temple on the site. In 2010, the Allahabad High Court ordered a 3-way partition of the land. On December 5, 2017, the Supreme Court deferred the hearing of civil appeals against the 2010 verdict to February 8, 2018.
